Little Big Band & Unangax at NW Folklife 2009 : Little Big Band's second NW Folklife performance at the Bagley Wright Theatre. Local urban Indian artists, actors, musicians, and dancers bend and twist all the stereotypes, interpreting and transforming words and music, fusing funk, blues, jazz, rock, and soul with theatrical performance, poetry, and spoken word, then infusing it with a bit of humor. The members of Little Big Band come from diverse backgrounds of music, theater, visual arts and traditional Native American cultures. The band had its beginnings in an early partnership between bass player Preston Singletary (Tlingit) and poet, musician and dancer Gene Tagaban (Tlingit/Cherokee) for a Seattle Art Museum documentary. Singletary became inspired to explore connections between Native cultures and the African American community—ways of dealing with history through music. He expanded the collaboration to include Star Nayea, a Grammy Award-winning vocalist; Keith Montgomery (Cherokee), guitar; James Rasmussen (Duwamish), trumpet; Terry Maloney, drums; and Maurice Caldwell, Jr., guitar. Special guests: Peter Ali, Swil Kanim, Solana Booth, Chuske and the stunning Unangax.

Winterfest Winter Solstice at Seattle Center, 17 December 2006 : At the Seattle Center's International Fountain, performers from NW Conclave, Spinergy Arts & Cirque De Flambe brought "Orbis: a Story of Winter" to the Seattle Center complete with fire, dance and music. The Solstice celebration recognizes the point in the seasons when the Earth's axis tilts farthest from the sun resulting in the shortest day of the year. After Solstice the Earth tilts closer to the sun and days become longer as the earth prepares for re-birth. This performance is an annual event of the Seattle Center Winterfest. The Refugee All Stars of Sierra Leone, July 2006 : A concert to benefit the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project on July 13, 2006 at Neumo's in Seattle. The evening opened with world pop spins by Darek Mazzone of KEXP, followed by local band Cuchata's Latin rhythms. Then the Refugee All Stars of Sierra Leone kept the house dancing for two sets.
