Powwows 2007 Galleries

18th Annual Stillaguamish Festival of the River and Pow Wow : The Festival and Pow-Wow were held at the Snohomish County River Meadows Park on August 11 and 12. These photos are from August 11, 2007.

The mission of the Festival is to help people who live and work in the Stillaguamish Watershed and surrounding regions understand how their actions can help make their environment cleaner for people, fish, and wildlife.

The Tribe recorded at least 5000 attendees at the 2006 Festival of the River. Over 28 states were represented, but the majority of festival-goers were from northern Snohomish County. The 2007 event surely broke 2006 records. Regardless, this is a beautiful powwow with a rare grand entry that features live eagles.
MORE PHOTOS WILL BE ADDED DURING THE WEEK SO PLEASE CHECK BACK !

Seafair Indian Days Powwow 2007 : The United Indians of All Tribes Foundation holds this annual celebration on the beautiful grounds of Discovery Park, Seattle, Washington. The Pow Wow averages 400 - 600 dancers in full regalia, up to 25 drum groups, and 10,000 spectators which come to celebrate the richness of the Native American culture.

In addition to the dancers, more than 60 vendors showcase a wide array of Native American arts and crafts which include jewelry, carvings, intricate beadwork, artwork, tapes, CD's, and T-shirts. Famed New Mexico artist Sam English was on hand at Daybreak Star for the fine arts fair along with other talented visual artists sharing their goods.

This year powwow faithfuls endured cloudy skies and driving rain but kept smiling, shopping, eating and dancing. These photos are from July 20-22, 2007. For more about United Indians, see: http://www.unitedindians.org/about.html
